These scones are so much better than anything store bought. I accidentally made the recipe with salted butter, so they came out a little too salty, but if I had followed the recipe correctly, they would have been perfect. You definitely don’t need the icing; they are delicious without it.

I did add a bit more cream when forming the disk and had to chop the last bit of butter really small, couldn’t get it grated without drawing blood lol. Formed the disk and cut it on parchment paper on a rimmed cookie sheet. Total fridge time was 15-20 mins. I completely forgot about the icing till just now reading through the comments lol. Def a keeper recipe! Thanks!!

Hi Ashley, How did you measure the flour? Make sure to spoon and level (instead of scooping) to avoid packing in too much flour into your measuring cups – or use a kitchen scale. You can read more about properly measuring baking ingredients in this post.

They taste fine, but the recipe is off.

Sounds like there was too much cream. The dough should be just shy of crumbling. I used a cheese cloth to form my disc and it was just wet enough to hold shape. Cut it into 8 triangles and they were perfect
